PIONEER ELITE PRO

Elite PRO-111FD with an Elite Performance and an Elite Price

The Pioneer Elite PRO-111FD is really one of the most excellent flat-panel HDTV with excellent picture quality if not the best.

Pioneer Elite

Home theater enthusiasts would love the new lineup of plasma TV called Elite from Pioneer including the 50-inch PRO-111FD. The picture quality it delivers is just superb with matching deep black levels and accurate color settings. It features 7 picture modes too.

Five of these modes are applicable to every input while one mode termed Standard is independent per input. The remaining mode, Pure, proves to be the most accurate. As its name suggests, most of the controls need not to be used in order to get the picture you like.

A lot of additional controls are included such as gamma control, adjustable black level, automatic contrast adjustment, color and brightness adjustment, video processing adjustments and noise reduction.

Elite’s design is easy and straightforward. Having a glossy black frame and bearing “Elite” on the base is just the thing, no more baloney. On the other hand, Elite PRO-111FD gets a low mark in its aptitude to perform standard definition sources; it’s not that bad but it isn’t good either.

With all its fantastic features, it is not surprising to know that it is particularly expensive. Elite PRO-111FD is a first rate plasma, the thing is, it’s only for the elites and can afford people.

SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER T240HD

Samsung SyncMaster T240HD (Review)

The Samsung SyncMaster T240HD is one of the best LCD monitors out there; but it really is more of an HDTV than a monitor. The display menu design is exactly the same as that of a Samsung HDTV. The ports are found at the back of the monitor, not below the monitor as it usually is.

The LCD monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200; its pixel-response rate is 5ms. The connections are the high point of the monitor. There are two HDMI ports, one DVI, standard VGA, component, optical audio, analog audio, coaxial, headphone jack and a USB port.

While these features can also be found in other LCD monitors, one would be hard-pressed to find one at its price making it one of the best LCD monitors.

However, the display had low brightness, and color reproduction proved to be a little lacking. However, the Samsung SyncMaster T240HD redeemed itself with sharp clarity and accurate flesh tones when watching DVDs. The text displayed on the screen was also sharp; this means that the monitor can be used for normal office tasks.

Despite some of these color issues, the Samsung SyncMaster T240HD is already a bargain and easily one of the best LCD monitors. While the performance may not be at par with other LCD monitors, it makes up for it with its much lower price.
